Assignment 8: Jing

Jing is a very useful Web 2.0 tool that I use often. I have been using Jing for several years now, and I would recommend it to anyone. It is user friendly and free! Jing gives you the ability to take screen shots of any size.  You can also capture video easily. Jing gives you 5 minutes of space, which is quite a bit for any small project.  Jing would be a great tool to use for short video tutorials of any computer or web application. Jing is partnered with Screencast, and that gives you a portal for housing your Jing photos and videos. I particularly like Screencast. It is easy to upload to it, and you can create folders for different projects. Of course, Jing comes with limitations like the video is only a swf file, but the pros outweigh the cons.

For my Jing Project, I created a tutorial of PiZap.com.  PiZap is a photo editing web 2.0 application that is free and very fun to use. I took screen shots of different sizes of the site for the assignment, and added them to the Screencast folder that housed the video.

  1. I have to say your tutorial was one of my favorites. You made using the website seem easy. My parents are not very tech-savy and I am confident they could figure out how to use PiZap.com thanks to your tutorial. I know I've had fun playing with it!
